This past weekend, one of my kids moved to a new city to take on a new job.
With all of the work needed for the physical move, as well as the other work to get established in a new place (utilities, transit pass, parking permit, IKEA), I was reminded that although this is a change he welcomes, it’s still not easy.
Add to these the new co-workers, new friends, new routines, and generally the new norms we all face when making a change like moving to a new city.
In the workplace, the same is true. Even for those super excited and “on board” with change, it’s still not easy, regardless of what it actually is (ways of working, systems, team structures, vision, etc.).
Exciting? Yes.
Easy? Nope.
Although we often want to believe it’s a problem with resistors, it’s not. Everyone is challenged with change, even the ones who are actively and visibly embracing it.
Also remember that everyone is doing their best.
Have a great week!
