Thanks

How often do you say thanks in the run of a day?

“Thanks so much,” as you grab your pumpkin spice latte in the mobile order line.

“Thanks, much appreciated,” to the person who held the door open as you followed them into your office building.

“Thanks for taking the time,” as you kick off your meeting.

“Thanks, have a nice day,” to the deli counter attendant as you leave with your soup.

“Thank you,” you mouth to the driver as they wave you in to their lane of traffic on a busy commute home.

In the typical day, we say it a lot.

How often do you say it to the people who you count on every day? Your customers. Your direct reports. Members of your team. Your colleagues.

Showing your appreciation has real impact. More than you might think.

People love to be thanked, even for the tasks that are just part of their regular job. Especially for those things.

Being thankful is one thing. Showing it is another.

It’s easy. Almost so easy, we forget about it, or don’t bother.

But it matters. A lot.

Thanks… for being here to support me.

Have a great week!

PS – To my fellow Canadians spending today at home, in the yard, on a walk, or otherwise enjoying this fall day… Happy Thanksgiving!
