Each person experiences change personally.

This is not something we just say.

Each of us is different. Everything from our upbringing to our personal life experience to our career path, and everything in between.

This makes us who we are.

As a change agent, it’s critical to recognize this and to work hard to find ways to relate and meet people where they are, as best we can.

In my experience, this starts with honesty.

Change tactics anchored by honesty can build trust. Without it, change is very difficult. Always.

This is especially true because there’s no guarantee that something new will work. And when you’re heading into uncharted waters, you need trust because each person will experience the journey differently.

And it will feel personal.
