Can it wait?

Sometimes a new project can’t wait. And when that’s the case, it’s important to find a way to prioritize it and execute.

This drives innovation and growth.

But sometimes it can wait… till next month, next quarter, or even further out.

People in most organizations are overwhelmed by the relentless volume and pace of change in the workplace today.

Many are stressed to the max and silently waving the white flag of surrender. Enough is enough. Please help. Some are not so silent and that can be a good thing.

As a leader, you need to be able to ensure things get done. But you also need to be able to “read the room.”

If your team members are at the end of their rope, you should know. And you need to do something about it.

One thing is to help them to manage the workload, by finding additional support or finding a way to give them some reprieve.

I’d never suggest that important strategic initiatives be put off indefinitely or that progress take a back seat.

But, I encourage leaders to take a look around and understand just how much people are being asked to do, especially when it involves having to go above and beyond, and ask yourself, can this wait?

Not forever. Not indefinitely. Not necessarily a long time.

But at least give yourself and your team a fighting chance to start on the right foot and see projects through to success.

Otherwise, what’s the point?

Have a great weekend!

PS – tomorrow (November 11) is a day of remembrance in many countries and I wish you well as you take time to mark the occasion #lestweforget
