Last month, I was at an event in Toronto with a group of changemakers, mostly self-made entrepreneurs who share a mission to impact a million (or more) people through their work.
One of the presenters talked about how chaos is found between the status quo and progress.
While an important outcome of a changemaker’s effort is to disrupt the status quo, they often do this by leading people out of the status quo and into the chaos… safely.
This is a really great way to think about it.
If we want to help people to make progress, let’s focus on actions that help them feel safe in the chaos.
For example… If people are not going to lose their jobs as a result of the change, assure them of this. Pretty simple.
Take away fear and create safety.
Not unlike parenting.
Have a great weekend!
