Yesterday, I was at the local shopping mall.

Whenever I’m out and about in the small city I call home, I notice things about the people walking by.

At this time of year, I’m particularly taken by how often I see people smiling.

Friends, siblings, couples.

People going about their daily business, smiling and laughing.

There is just something about a smile. It makes everyone around feel good.

McDonald’s was on to something years ago when they had “Smiles – Free” on their menu.

I hope you have reason to smile a lot as the year 2023 comes to a close.

The next time you’re at the office or otherwise interacting with your colleagues, direct reports or supervisors, be mindful of the power of a smile and let them see yours.

It does make a difference.
