It’s how you are smart.
It’s not what resources you have.
It’s how you are resourceful.
These words came from Jim Kwik, author of Limitless, giving a talk at an event I attended last fall.
It was reinforcing but also felt kind of revolutionary. His words connected with the way I think but I’d never thought about it that way before.
[I’ll stipulate that sometimes how smart you are probably does matter, but this way of thinking is powerful.]
It’s how you are smart. It’s how you are resourceful.
Everyone has their own unique set of capabilities. But it’s not necessarily about IQ tests, the letters after your name, or the money you have. It’s about how you bring to bear what you have to create value.
I believe everyone has something valuable to contribute. Everyone has a gift to give. The key is to find that place where our capabilities, our desire, and our potential intersect.
This is where leadership comes in.
What if your focus was on team member potential and your priority was to help them unlock it? Do you see how that would have a positive impact, for them personally and your organization.
This is one of the most important things leaders can do.
Have a great week!
