A little confidence is all it takes

And the simplest of words are all that are needed.

You can do it

I believe in you

Trust yourself. I do.

I’ve worn a lot of hats in my life and I know the feeling, and the look, of someone who’s gained confidence because of something I said or did.

You know what I’m talking about. It’s a damn good feeling.

If you watched The Bear, you’ll recognize the picture. It’s the clock and sign in Chef Terry’s (Olivia Coleman) kitchen, in Episode 7 of Season 2.

This episode had some moments – about persistence, service, execution, and quality. But the moment about confidence is the one that punched me in the face!

There was a turning point for one of the show’s main characters in this episode. I won’t spoil it. IYKYK

A few words from a boss, colleague, or teammate go a long way in inspiring confidence, and so often, it’s all the boost someone needs.

“He says you’re good with people. He’s not wrong.”

Chef Terry (The Bear)

I’m not crying, you’re crying!

It takes just one person, at the right time, to say one thing.

Be that person.

Make today the day you give one of your people – a team member, a student, a co-worker, a kid – the confidence boost they need.

It’ll be the best thing you do today.

Have a great weekend!
