There’s a lot of work that happens behind the scenes that we don’t see.

Take for instance, a movie set or even a TikTok video. We see whatever is in the camera’s frame but nothing else.

Earlier this week, I was at the auto shop having my winter tires swapped off.

As I waited, I listened to the hum of the workers and the whirring of the tools. I knew the mechanics were there because they’re the ones doing the direct work needed by customers like me.

They’re in the “camera’s frame.”

I also took notice of the two guys here to collect all the “trash”… rotors, brakes, and all sorts of other discarded parts. They filled their truck and took the load to places unknown.

Then, there were the people I couldn’t see at all.

Stocking the parts on shelves, doing the paperwork, calling suppliers.

In every organization, there’s a lot of work happening that the customer never sees.

Those jobs are just as important as the ones we see. The people are just as important too.

But when we don’t see them, it can be easy to take them for granted.

Think about the people working in the background, behind the scenes, at your place of business.
