Leaders don’t think about “change”

I read a post today about the annoyance of “fake” transformations. Lipstick on a pig.

My experience has been that senior leaders don’t start by internalizing that we have a “change” to implement.

There’s just something very important (critical) that needs to be done.

“We need to improve something. Do something new. Go somewhere new.”

Does this sound familiar? Are you one of those senior leaders?

You have goals, objectives, OKRs that you’re driving. There’s a nut on your back.

The higher-ups are watching. There’s pressure. We need to hit our targets.

The fact that it’s “change” and has to be “managed” or “led” isn’t usually part of the thought process.

Or are you the person that senior leader looks to and says “make it so”?

Making the change happen is your job.

Don’t get frustrated that they don’t see the change the way you do or the way they should.

Put yourself in their shoes.

Then put yourself in the shoes of everyone who will have to adopt new ways of working to make these goals a reality.

And go make it so.

Need help? Ask me anything.

Have a great weekend!
