We hear this advice all the time. Sometimes, it’s unsolicited and poorly timed so it’s not always well-received.
You’re trying something new.
Doing something for the first time.
Dealing with something unexpected.
Managing your way through a challenging situation.
Stress is normal when we’re under pressure.
Starting can be scary.
We hesitate. We stall. We’re afraid to screw up or look like an idiot. We’re worried that we’ll break something.
Or we don’t feel like we have permission… even from ourselves.
Try to muster that inner optimistic voice that reassures you that it will be ok and that it’s better to ask for forgiveness, than for permission.
Just do it.
Just start.

Sure, it may be difficult. Lots of the things we try aren’t easy.
But you have to take that first step, don’t you?
Someone is counting on you. You may not even realize it.
Be positive.
Why not? What’s the alternative?
A new year is upon us. Full of opportunity to start fresh, make things happen, and improve our life and the lives of others.
